Anusha and Bhavan’s Journey from Hardship to Hope
By Natash Aston Cutinha
Meet Anusha and Bhavan, a resilient brother and sister duo whose lives have been transformed with the support of Coorg Organisation for Rural Development (CORD). We first met them in a church, introduced by a pastor. At the time, Bhavan was studying in the 6th grade and Anusha in the 4th grade at St. Lourdes School, Polibetta.

Their early years were marked by the loss of their mother, leaving them under the care of their maternal grandmother. Their father, a daily laborer, was not supportive, making it difficult for their grandmother to provide for their needs. In desperation, she approached CORD for help.

Recognizing the critical situation, CORD took the initiative to visit their family, provided counseling, and began supporting Anusha and Bhavan with their education. This support included paying for their school fees, books, uniforms, and sometimes even provisions for the family.

Thanks to the generosity of an individual sponsors, Anusha and Bhavan have been able to continue their studies without interruption. Today, Bhavan is in the 12th grade and plans to pursue a degree in computer science. Anusha is in the 10th grade and will join college after completing her schooling.

These children continue to live with their grandmother in Polibetta, and their future is now filled with hope and potential thanks to the unwavering support of CORD.
