How we work
Objective
To establish village-level Democracy in around 1100 Adivasi villages through Gram Sabhas, secure land and livelihood rights to nearly 1.20 lakh families through the implementation of FRA within 5 years, and transform them into green fences against climate change.
Goals
Strengthen Gram Sabhas through village level training programmes meetings, audio and video messaging and workshops on importance of a strong gram sabha for implementation of FRA and securing rights under it through FRA Committee.
Strengthen BKS, a people’s association of Adivasi, at Haadi level, taluk level, district level and state level through restorative processes such as awareness building, leadership training programmes.
Animate and Empower the Second Generation through cultural interventions such as village to village cultural jathas and plays, messages of Adivasi culture and living through social media – mobile apps.
Establish eco-friendly Cultural & Indigenous Milestones depicting various dimensions of Adivasi struggle, Adivasi culture – lifestyle & language, and Adivasi knowledge across the Adivasi habitat.
Cultural Instruments for Empowerment – Reliving the music, dance and drama of the Adivasi life and living, and its import in modern living.
Establish a Gram Sabha HQ as Cultural Centre in each Hadi.
Establish Marketing Instruments & Support for economic activities through the Gram Sabhas in the form of producers’ cooperative with local banking tools for those in distress and need, and marketing co-operatives through BKS.
Rejuvenation and restoration of community forest resources and biodiversity coupled with meeting protection and management challenges of forest resources and biodiversity.
Facing mainstream influences such as Plantation influences -, Bonded Labour, POCSO cases, Cultural-aping etc; conspiracies at negating implementation of FRA to retain captive labour at plantations; Environmental hardliners; Petty smuggling support; Coercions by timber smugglers; Eco tourism projects and Granite and other mining.
