Empowering Madan: A Journey of Resilience and Hope
By Natash Aston Cutinha
Madan, a student in the 9th grade at Savitri Convent School in Mysore, has shown remarkable strength and resilience despite facing immense challenges from a young age. Losing his father as a child left his family in a difficult situation, but with the unwavering support of his mother and the help from CORD NGO, Madan’s path toward a brighter future has stayed alive.
Madan’s mother has always been a symbol of determination. She initially took on small jobs, and later found work as a helper in a hotel. Her situation changed when she acquired a tailoring machine, which allowed her to take up stitching work for neighbors. While this step gave her financial independence, it was just one part of their journey.
Every morning, Madan visits a nearby temple where he helps the priest with daily tasks and receives prasadam, which ensures that he gets at least one proper meal a day. This routine has become an essential part of his life. His mother’s perseverance and Madan’s dedication have kept them moving forward despite the adversities they face.
CORD NGO has been actively supporting Madan and his family for the past six years, ensuring that he continues his education without financial burden. Our interventions aim to empower Madan and children like him by providing educational aid, mentorship, and emotional support. We believe in not just helping them survive but enabling them to thrive through self-sustenance and growth opportunities.
Madan’s story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit, and at CORD, we remain committed to uplifting the lives of children like him. By providing them with the resources and support they need, we help pave the way for their brighter tomorrow.
