What is CORD?
Since 1984, CORD (Coorg Organisation for Rural Development) has been dedicated to securing recognition for indigenous communities of Karnataka, helping nurture and protect their natural habitat for 4+ decades. CORD played a key role in mobilisations securing parliamentary legislations acknowledging the Adivasi existence and their individual and community rights (like Forest Rights Act- FRA-2006).
What is our contribution towards the Forest Rights Act?
The following video highlights our work supporting the Forest Rights Act and its positive effects on indigenous communities. It shows how the Act strengthens their deep connection with nature, helping them maintain a sustainable lifestyle. It has also boosted their economic stability and opened up better educational opportunities for their children, fostering a balanced relationship with the environment.
