President of CORD resides over annual day celebrations of Milinda School

The annual day and cultural festival of Milinda Primary and High School, located in Giragur under the jurisdiction of Koppa Gram Panchayat, were successfully held on the evening of January 4.

In the absence of the Minister for Animal Husbandry, K. Venkatesh, the event was presided over by Vijayasingh Ronald David, Director of the CORD organisation in Kushalnagar. The program was inaugurated by Tenzin Choyang Gandhi from the Bylakuppe Tibetan Camp, who paid floral tributes to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and a child figure.

Khijar and Fatima, the owners of Bota Farm, distributed trophies and prizes to the winners of the Milinda Cricket Tournament. Congress leader Dr. Vijaykumar honored two students, Jayashree and Sinchana, who achieved top ranks in SSLC, with cash prizes sponsored by Prof. H. Govindayya, and felicitated their parents.

As part of the cultural festival, students, under the guidance of their teachers and artists Ravi Atharva and Khaju, performed 12 dances in various languages and staged the play Chora Charanadasa in an open theater setting, captivating the audience with their exceptional performances.

Speaking as the chief guest, film director Suman Kittur emphasized the importance of nurturing girls' dreams without constraining them or rushing into early marriages. She urged parents to raise their sons with discipline and a sense of respect for everyone.

Dr. S. Srikanta, speaking about education, praised Milinda School for its innovative environment, teaching methods, and focus on art and environmental studies that foster creativity among students. He highlighted that the school has been a beacon for tribal, Muslim, and rural children from underprivileged backgrounds, with over 660 students successfully completing SSLC in the past 25 years and building their futures in various fields.

Presiding over the event, Mr. Vijayasingh Ronald David remarked that Milinda School has become a blessing for children in rural areas, thanks to the dedicated efforts of its teaching staff in promoting holistic development and imparting various skills at a young age.

The cultural festival was planned and executed under the guidance of Prof. H. Govindayya, a key figure in the institution. The event was attended by the institution’s secretary, Ravikumar; treasurer, Ningaraju; member and advocate R. Lakshana; C.R.P. Mobeen; and locals such as Devaraj, Madesh, J.D. Jayappa, Makbool, headmistress Jansi, teaching staff, and community leaders. The festival attracted an audience of over a thousand people.
